We both admitted early on that if we had known, we would have screamed out the door and fled to the police. After learning that the man has killed 10 people, you’re not going to sit there and make supper for him, is what we’re saying. We were unaware that we were cohabitating with a psychopath. They are quite adept at concealment. He was a kind, loving father and husband for 90, 95 percent of the 34 years my mom lived with him.
Even though it has been almost 15 years since Kerri and her family learned of their father’s affairs, the anguish has not left her.

Dennis Lynn Rader, Kerri’s father, had a double life as a killer who also served as a loving father, church leader, and Boy Scout leader. As a result, Kerri and her family were unaware that he was the BTK strangler who terrorized their neighborhood until he was caught. Years after the occurrence, Kerri acknowledged that the signs had been there but that their love for her father prevented them from making the connections. Kerri has never agreed with her father’s conduct, even though she still loves him.
